Harvest Feast
Harvest Feast is a fall dinner that NCJC hosts every year around Thanksgiving. Andrew Coghill and RaQuishia Harrington have been organizing this event for many years. The City of Iowa City provided a lot of outreach and publicity for the event, and Johnson County gave a financial award for food and services. The feast is about getting people together and sharing a meaningful meal. Last year, they partnered with Christ the King to have a big feast for the Wonderful Westside neighborhood. Close to 100 people, neighbors, families, and friends attended the event. Andrew notes that the event didn’t have much programming besides arts and crafts tables for kids. Their goal was for people to get to know each other. “Those [neighbors] are the people who live around you who are gonna be there for you when you need them, and hopefully you are gonna be there for them when they need you.”
